CEPL provides Detailed Engineering services for facilities by modelling the same in simulation software. Detailed engineering for the nitrogen blanketing system for tanks storing Behenyl alcohol was carried out by CEPL. The overall scope of the project was to provide N2 blanketing and heating scheme to maintain the desired temperature of 80 ᵒC for storing Behenyl alcohol. Behenyl alcohol’s quality deteriorates on contact with air and solidifies at temperatures below 60 ᵒC. CEPL modelled the facility in Aspen HYSYS and calculated the size for PCV, PRV, PVRV, and ERV to the storage tank. Calculations for the heat transfer area required to increase the temperature from 15 ᵒC to 80 ᵒC were estimated in Aspen PLUS to maintain the desired temperature.
